Thomas Connor assigned to Alexander Walker Scott charged with disobedience of orders...John Brunker overseer to Alexander Walker Scott testified....On Saturday morning last I ordered the prisoner to get himself ready to go to Newcastle in the boat. He replied and said he could not go . I asked him for what reason. He said that he had no trousers. I told him he received his slops when due the same as the other men and if he did not go I would take him to court. He said very well he would rather go to court than in the boat. Guilty. Sentenced to 50 lashes
